Dr Daniel Ting is the Associate Professor with Duke-NUS Medical School and Stanford University, senior consultant vitreo-retinal surgeon at the Singapore National Eye Center, Director of Singapore Health Service AI Office, and Associate Editor of npj Digital Medicine. His research focus is related to AI and digital health related applications for eye and retinal diseases that span across machine learning, deep learning, privacy preserving technology such as blockchain technology, federated machine learning and generative adversarial network, conversational AI chatbot using natural language processing.

To date, Dr Daniel has published >250 peer reviewed publications in high-impact journals, such as JAMA, NEJM, Lancet, Nature Medicine, and serves in American Academy of Ophthalmology, STARD-AI, QUADAS-AI and DECIDE-AI as an executive committee. He also serves in numerous editorial boards in the top-tiered digital and medical journals, including Associate Editor for Nature Digital Medicine, Frontiers in Medicine, Frontiers in Digital Health and Asia-Pacific Journal of Ophthalmology; Section Editor in British Journal of Ophthalmology and Editor in Ophthalmology, Ophthalmology Retina, Ophthalmology Science, British Journal of Ophthalmology and Asia-Pacific Journal of Ophthalmology.

In 2022 to 2025, Dr Daniel was ranked the Top 100 Ophthalmologists Power list by the Ophthalmologists, and ranked Top 100 clinical research (0.001%) in the World’s Top 2% Scientists by the Stanford University. From 2010 to 2021, he was also ranked 1st for deep learning AI research scientist in the world across all domains (>55K researchers) by the ExpertScape. In 2024 scholar classified him as #7 in the worls as AI medical expert and and #3 in deep learning field. He has won the Young Scientist Award by president’s science and technology awards (PTSA) 2024, a recognition to under 40 that has contributed researcher and development in Singapore and demonstrate great potential to be world class researcher.
